Dimitar Danchev Wins the 2013 PCA Main Event

According to Betfair, Dimitar Danchev has become the first Bulgarian to capture a European Poker Tour (EPT) title after topping a field of 987-entrants to win the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) Main Event.

It was a wonderful achievement for Danchev, who managed to navigate his way through a tough final table that contained seven hours of scintillating action.

When the final table started, only World Poker Tour (WPT) Champion, Jonathan Roy, held fewer chips than Danchev. But the Bulgarian was composed and calm as he picked his spots perfectly to end the tournament with every single one of them stacked messily in from of him.

The first-major tournament of 2013 attracted the very best poker players in the world, some from the Betfair Poker rooms.

You can test the temperature of a tournament by the notable exits on day one and some of the very best fell on the first day sword: Barry Greenstein, Tom Dwan, Ben Lamb, Jason Mercier, and Bertrand Grospellier just a few stars unable to make the first cut.

By the end of day two, there were 166-players left after the likes of Phil Ivey, Chris Moorman, and Erik Cajelais hit the rail hard. The third day of play was the day the players earned their corn: Greg Mueller, Carlos Mortensen, and Scott Clements a few of the pieces of quality to find a cash without making it through to the fourth day of play.

The fourth and fifth days action saw the emergence of an eight-handed final table. Eugene Katchalov, Mohsin Charania, Olivier Busquet, and Robert Mizrachi falling just short of the final table that included the likes of Owen Crowe, Yann Dion, Jonathan Roy and Andrey Shatilov.

After seven hours of final table play, Danchev overcame Joel Micka in heads-up action to take the title and first-prize of $1,859,000.
