I have to tell you this. My brothers neighbor is from costa rica. He told us about the scams with several online poker sites there, as well as some internet casinos. He said he didnt know of any that were not scams. His father and some other family members are involved in the scams and the money even bought the house next to my brothers. The poker scam is simple. They can actually see the entire tables cards as well as the completed board. They use disposable cell phones to alert their partners what they need to do. The idea is to not be too obvious and still make the maximum profit. There use to be only a few people involved and they would only hit the larger tables but now there are many many people involved and they take a piece of nearly every table, including the penny tables. The govenment is also involved and turns a blind eye in order to gain some of the revenue. If you play a lot of poker over the last 20 or 30 years then you will easily spot the scams. There are way too many crazy bad beats and they will tell you excuses such as “we play more hands per hour”. The neighbor said that there are now organized gangs that have muscled their way in to this and it has become dangerous. He got out and made enough to live well and retire…he’s only 32yrs old.
He said that sortsbook and playersonly were the ones who had the most insiders and therefore the most corrupt. Believe me, this guy doesnt strike me as the smartest fella but he sure comes across as honest and even somewhat sorry. Doesnt matter who believes this because there are always going to be people with gambling problems so bad that they refuse to accept that theyre being ripped off.
Go there and play…see if you can spot the scams…it will make no sense but it doesnt stop them from continuing to steal your money. If you care about anyone who plays online then please warn them and spread the word.
