What is the San Antonio Series of Poker (SASOP)?
We are all friends, family, or co-workers who merely enjoy getting together and playing poker in a relaxed environment.
Registration Fees and Regular Season Game Buy-Ins
No registration fee is required for the SASOP. Regular season event buy-in is $20 for every player. $15 is applied to the nightly jackpot, and $5 is applied to the current season's Championship Main Event jackpot. All monies are paid out to players. There is never a rake or fee applied to any player.
Regular Season Games
Season 1 is scheduled for 14 events.
During regular season events, all players begin with 7,500 starting chips. There is an early bird bonus if you are present and paid at least 5 minutes before tournament start. You will receive a bonus of 2,500 in chips and 5 bonus pts on your standings. Rebuys are allowed for the first 6 blind levels. Round times will be every 12 minutes, with blinds increasing every round.
Regular season events are currently capped at 20 players (2 tables; 10 players per table).
Dates and Locations
All dates, times and locations are prescheduled, however all events should be considered TBD until officially announced. Our target is every other Friday, 8:30PM, with registration beginning at 8:00PM. Regular players are always welcome and encouraged to volunteer a venue for play.
Points and Scoring
Points shall be awarded based on performance. Each regular season game, all players will accrue points based on their performance for the regular season.
The top 10 players at the end of the poker season will be invited to play in a 10-man single table freeroll for a share of final prize pool and championship bracelet. Points will only count in 10 of the tournaments participated in. This means that you can play as many as you like and we will take the top 10 finishes to count as your point total. Basically allows for a player to make-up for bad showings in previous tournaments.
Points schedule for season two shall be as follows:
1 pt for each tournament played
1 pt for each player you outlast in a tournament
10 pt for 1st place bounty (bonus)
5 pt for 2nd place bounty (bonus)
3 pt for 3rd place bounty (bonus)
10 pt for 1st place finish (bonus)
5 pt for 2nd place finish (bonus)
3 pt for 3rd place finish (bonus)
1 pt for 'in money' finish outside of top 3 (bonus)
5 pt for early bird arrival (bonus)
-5 pt for each rebuy (only negative bonus points)
Player Bounties
Player bounties will be decided as the top 3 players in the point standings. If one of those players are not present for the game the bounty positions will shift downward to the next highest player in the standings
Note: for the 1st game, bounty positions will be randomly drawn
Points Tiebreakers
Tiebreakers for the points leader board will be based on the following in this order:
Season points accumulated (before bonus points)
Average regular event finishes over 5th place
(If both are the same, then we will have a heads up tie breaker holdem game.)
