I am looking to put together a weekly/ biweekly/ monthly poker game at my house Tuesday or Thursday. I have a few players already and would like to put together a full table. My al is to play limit 3/6-4/8-5/10 with a kill. Now you may be saying "sounds fun but I play no limit." We do too and I have had home games that are no limit before and that's fine to do once in a while. But the idea here is that when you play no limit one hand can be the difference of a od little chunk of money. In order to keep it friendly I prefer home games to be limit so that the most you can lose when someone hits a miracle on you is about $60. Additionally, I like to have a few drinks and relax which is not a od idea when I get raised for my whole stack. So we can play 3-6 or 4-8 or even 5-10 for all I care. I want it to be enough money that I care but not so much that I can't say "nice hand" or "nice hit" and still laugh about it. Additionally, there are way way way way less (even zero) arguments when the pot is $40 versus $600. My house is off 70th/Lake Murray so generally central and I am flexible about start time but lean towards 6 or so so we can get some od hours in and not be dying when we have to wake up for work the next day. We are all normal guys, a few in real estate (myself included) and one of the other guys owns a construction company.
I also have a table that uses the "Bold Poker" app you can find on the apple store. So my table can be 100% self dealing. It is amazing to play on and really speeds up the game. Once you see it you will tell all your poker friends about it. If for whatever reason people are uncomfortable using it I do have a KEM setup and we can just shuffle up and deal but I can assure you you have not had as much fun at a home game in your life as having to not have to "deal" with shuffling and dealing. It's awesome. Like I said I don't care if we use it but once you see it you will love it I promise:)
