To assess a home poker game in Oregon, start with Oregon Revised Statutes, Chapter 167. Review sections 167.117 and 167.121. Section 167.117 sets private-home social-game conditions about house participation, banking, odds and income. Other venues also involve the local-authorization provisions.
Before hosting or joining, confirm:
- Does the private-home game meet all social-game conditions, or is this a different venue requiring local authorization?
- Do the rules cover this private residence, club, business or public event?
- How do rake, seat fees, required purchases, donations or other organizer benefits affect the game?
- What limits or conditions apply to wagers, player winnings, entry fees and prizes?
- What age and other participation requirements apply?
Use the official source to identify the applicable conditions and effective amendments. A private venue or game without rake is only part of the assessment.
