Missouri distinguishes an ordinary player from someone who advances or profits from gambling. Section 572.010 includes a social-game player description involving equal terms and certain unpaid arrangements such as inviting players or providing premises.

The chapter defines a professional player as a player who gambles for a livelihood, or who derived at least 20% of their income in any one of the past five years solely from acting as a player.

Check the host's role, benefits, equal terms, venue, stakes and participant ages against section 572.010 and section 572.020. These definitions do not give every home game automatic approval.
