To assess a home poker game in Kentucky, start with Kentucky Revised Statutes, Chapter 528. Review sections 528.010 onward. Read the player definition and the provisions about advancing or profiting from gambling.
Before hosting or joining, confirm:
- Do the host's actions or payments put them outside the ordinary-player definition?
- Do the rules cover this private residence, club, business or public event?
- How do rake, seat fees, required purchases, donations or other organizer benefits affect the game?
- What limits or conditions apply to wagers, player winnings, entry fees and prizes?
- What age and other participation requirements apply?
Use the official source to identify the applicable conditions and effective amendments. A private venue or game without rake is only part of the assessment.
