To assess a home poker game in Colorado, start with Colorado Revised Statutes portal. Review Title 18, Article 10, including section 18-10-102. The General Assembly's portal links the published code. Check the current definitions and social-gambling conditions.
Before hosting or joining, confirm:
- Is the game incidental to an existing social relationship, and does anyone act as a professional gambler under the current definition?
- Do the rules cover this private residence, club, business or public event?
- How do rake, seat fees, required purchases, donations or other organizer benefits affect the game?
- What limits or conditions apply to wagers, player winnings, entry fees and prizes?
- What age and other participation requirements apply?
Use the official source to identify the applicable conditions and effective amendments. A private venue or game without rake is only part of the assessment.
General information only. Check the current law and obtain local advice about your particular arrangements.
