To assess a home poker game in Alaska, start with Alaska Legislature law resources. Review AS 11.66.200–11.66.280. Check the gambling definitions and offenses for the proposed game.
Before hosting or joining, confirm:
- Would the activity meet the gambling or professional-gambling definitions, including the host's role?
- Do the rules cover this private residence, club, business or public event?
- How do rake, seat fees, required purchases, donations or other organizer benefits affect the game?
- What limits or conditions apply to wagers, player winnings, entry fees and prizes?
- What age and other participation requirements apply?
Use the official source to identify the applicable conditions and effective amendments. A private venue or game without rake is only part of the assessment.
General information only. Check the current law and obtain local advice about your particular arrangements.
